heating and temperature

Postby scotty121 » Sat Dec 03, 2011 1:34 am

Hello.

I would like to know if you need heating for these snake's
Royal/ball python, Corn snake, House snake.
If so what temperature should it be at? ( can I please get it in degree's )
I also should say that I live on a farm were we rely on South African weather. ( we do not have heating in our house and the snake's I will be keeping will be in a rack system)

Thank you for you'r time. :)

All snakes require heating. They ALL require a thermostat to regulate the temperatures.

Do not mix them all on one rack and expect them to be happy.

Ball pythons require higher temperatures than house snakes and corn snakes.

Go search on the forum because these have all been answered before.

I have done research on the forum and it does not accurately say what temperature it has to be at?

Also I thought you did not need heating for African house snake and corn snake because the weather here is hot, I got told that you only need heating for BP'S in the winter ??

I think you should ALWAYS have a heat source + thermostat, so when the natural temps get favorable for the snake, the heating will turn of untill the temp gets to low.

Numerous posts will tell you the hot spot needs to be around 28 degrees for the Colubrids you mention.

The weather is not "hot" so invest in a heating pad / cable and a thermostat.

You need heating for Ball pythons as they require a hot spot of 32 in summer.

Bushviper can I leave the BP's in the summer as it is quite hot there or should i still invest in heat cable.?

You need to read the advice before asking the same question again. If your cage has a hot spot of 32 degrees I will amazed. Buy the heating cables and the thermostat.

By asking the question in different ways does not help the answer will always be the same.

If you cannot afford the proper caging that means you cannot afford to keep the snake and you should sell it. There is no "nice way" to put this.
