Hey can anyone identify this snake. Came out to lock up and it had a go at my ankles. About 60cm in lenght ... body more grey than brown. Black eyes. Thought possibly a red lipped herald but no evident colouring on face. Head was black and shiny. Body was very broad in the middle. Found in pinetown kzn ... released back into the bush

Judging by the black head and the grey body, I would go with a red lip Harold snake. They dont always have the visible red marking on their faces as one would expect i have seen a couple of red lipped harolds and they all differ in certain ways when it comes to the marking on their faces. If someone else can confirm that would be great but im 99.9% sure thats a harold snake.
