Please ID snake

Postby Shona Anne » Sun Dec 28, 2014 9:01 am

Hello, small fellow, about 40cms, skin pitted with yellow-ish bands, definitely keel over its full tummy, found on concrete at Lake Eland game reserve in Oribi Gorge at 8am, very sluggish, totally non-aggressive. Scooped up in yogurt and release at base of a fig tree, didn't try to climb but kept to the sand keeping away from wet grass

Redlipped herald snake - mildly venomous that feeds on toads and frogs.

Venom has no ill effect on humans.
Evolution is an imperfect and often violent process. A battle between what exists, and what is yet to be born.
