Very interesting boomslang (possible morph)

I do not know much about this specimen yet, other than its from KZN and was caught on a call out not to long ago. Very pretty snake that reminds me of a cape cobra. South Africa provides yet another interesting surprise for us herpers.

I recall when I did my snake handling course MANY years ago with Tony Phelps he had a similar Boomslang, although not as freckled.

It looks like a Calico morph that occurs in many other snakes species too, and that means it could in all likelihood be a recessive morph.

Very cool and thanx for sharing.

I don't know the head shape looks wrong for Boomslang.Scales look very smooth in the pic as well.
Looks more like Psammorphis.Body shape reminds me of Psammorphis mossambicus.

Good point there Tony. Didn't notice that. Smooth scales are obvious towards the tail.

I would love to see a nice side head shot.
