Should I trade?

Should I trade?

Postby pytoxic » Tue Nov 12, 2013 2:46 pm

Hi guys
A friend of mine has a Jaguar Jungle CP. I have a big 1.3m tank. He asked me if I could give him my tank so he can get another CP and breed them and in return I would get one of the off spring. The tank is not being used and it is all glass aswell. Do you guys think this is a fair trade?
Thanks
Nic

Just make sure your friend stipulates that you get a Jaguar baby.

Breeding a Jag to a normal Carpet produces 50% Jags and 50% normals, so you dont want him giving you a normal.

That would be a good trade in my opinion.

Thanks guys.
I am a bit worried about the age of his carpets and he is a bit of a beginner at this so he might not hatch them.
Oh and Westly is there a super Jungle?
Thanks again

There is no Super Jungle but there is a Super Jag, but you would not want to breed those.

See the posts here and Google about them a bit:

So very few people breed Jag to Jag because of this reason.

Oh yes I remember seeing that. What is the difference between a jungle and a jag and is a jungle jag a cross between the two?
Thanks

Also, sorry to add this, but make some sort of "contract". Earlier this year I hatched out 10 corn snake eggs for my SISTER with the deal I get 2 babies. Before all the babies were out the eggs she said I'm not getting ANY snakes! We had a huge fight and whatnots, but in the end my dad told my sister to give me one baby (I couldn't even choose). It's sad...

The names can get a bit confusing but you'll get used to them.

Jungle is a subspecies of Carpet which means it is not a morph. So a Jungle would still be considered a "normal" because is doesn't carry any inheritable genetics.

Jaguar is a morph, just like albino, which influences the pattern of the snake. It is passed on from generation to generation.

So a Jungle Jag is a snake which is of the Jungle subspecies which carries the Jaguar genetics.

Some people still do breed Jag to Jag, even when they do know the super is lethal. They still hope they will get one to survive and also, it cuts the numbers of the normal looking crosses (siblings) in half so they don't sit with so many snakes that are not worth much.

Jungle is a locality subspecies of Carpet Pythons (Morelia), you get Jungles, Coastals, Darwins, Inlands, Irian Jayas and so on.

Jag is a morph first produced when breeding 2 normal Coastals together and it was then proven to be Co-Dom. People then started mixing Jungles, Irian Jayas and other subspecies in with Jaguars to make something like a Jungle-Jag. The yellow from the Jungle makes the Jag gene better, same with Irian Jayas.

The last time I saw babies, they went for between R2000 and R2500 each.

Jags can get quite big so I would say for an adult a cage of 100cm to 120cm x 50cm x 50cm will be a good size.
