Red Tegu

this is my male red tegu. pictures are taken last summer in my backyard. and yes he is really this red!

Goodness, he is almost as red as that cloth/glove in the last picture! Nice photos Sabje!

it is a thick welding glove.. you need them by these animals. there nails scratch you open and if the bite they can do nasty things like a deathroll. they can easy snap off a finger or 2! watch the first movie below closely after 10 seconds in. I can't count how many the female makes

No haha... Tegu's and especially the red and the black/white ones are famous for getting them as tame as a dog if you put the time in it. but if I wanted a tame dog I would've bought a dog

I don't handle them often so there are not to friendly. if you open the cage and stick your arm in they think ow nice!! fresh meat me hungry. so they have the real character of a Tegu still in them! these two creatures eat as much al my 10 boa's combined in a year. Even when they sleep about 4months a year :lol:

but wouldn't miss/or sell them for the world... these and my Caiman are they only legged reptiles in my collection. if I ever have the room I would like a Nile monitor but that is only a dream I think. finding a house with enough rooms to spend 1 room on a Nile!

1e movie:... watch closely after 10 seconds. that is why you don't want them hanging in your fingers, the famous deathroll! eating pre-killed rat.
