Biggest threat?

Postby MrG » Wed Nov 03, 2010 11:11 am

Not the snake but urban development. I catch so many in town/city areas and I think we can truly say said it has become a town dweller. Numbers caught on a yearly basis is more or less the same and I catch a lot in the same area.

Some stats for the Last 3 years:
Town 2008 / 2009 / 2010 (up to date)
Krugersdorp 11/ 9/ 12
Magaliesburg/Rural 7/ 7/ 9
Roodepoort 6/ 3/ 1
Randfontein 16/ 14/ 13
Westonarea 5/ 3/ 1
Carletonville 3/ 9/ 5

Also love the last shot. It's like he is saying "I think you have something on your chin" LOL

Yes it is by far the snake mostly caught here on the Westrand. In feb we had 5 call-outs on one day just in Randfontein for Rinkhals.

Just goes to show how resilient the are. Which again makes me wonder what factors have caused the decline in the Cape

The head shot is top class, seems I need to visit my cousin in the West Rand a little more, to get some reptile photography under way!
