Respiratory Infection - King snake

Postby tobiasf » Wed May 06, 2015 9:45 pm

Hi All,

I'm in need of urgent assistance it looks like my Gray Banded King snake has RI. I'm really worried as there was a little slime in his mouth last week and it looked like it disappeared but now its making a little noise. Is there a proper VET in
Pretoria East that anyone can refer that specialize also in reptiles.

Thanks All

I have also read that you can use F10 with a Nebulizer for 10 days. What F10 solution should you use and what kind of Nebulizer will be the best?

I'm not local to you or familiar with nebulizers, so can't help with most of your needs....but in the meantime, try raising the temp by a few degrees to boost the animal's natural immune system. It might buy you more time. Good luck!!!

F10 SC 4ml in 1l 0.9% saline. Nebulize for 20-30min twice daily. Temps up to 26 (cool end) and 30 (warm end) or constant 28'C. If already in bacterial phase, contact Dr Dorianne Elliot at Onderstepoort to arrange for an examination, culture and accurate antibiotic treatment. Don't waste time with RI's

Hi All,

Hope you are well. Just a quick update as to what happened with my King snake. I went to my local VET where they phoned Dr. Dorainne at Onderspoort. She was very helpful and proposed 2ML of F10 SC in 1 Litre of Saline. I nebulized my King snake for 10 days morning and evening for 20 min. My snake got better and it worked. Here is just some photos below on how I constructed one of my plastic Tupperware containers with the nebulizer nozzle.

Thanks

Tobias
