My list would be:

Locusts
Tsetse Flies
Anopholese Mosquito
Termites
Fleas

And if you look at it, everyone of them have huge impact in the enviorment. Great list.

Sorry to point this out, but spiders ain't insects Should rather be the big 5 of invertebrates

Ok I was waiting for this, Lets call it your big five critters without going too deep into what a critter is. :)
