I took these photos this morning on the shore of the Congo River in Soyo Angola as we had a nice sunny day after being overcast for some time. This is the most beautiful species of Dendroaspis to my eyes and I can't pass up on a photo opportunity when we find these. This small female specimen (1190mm) was captured in a cashew nut tree by my alternate nyami while I was off on rotation in SA. It did strike at the grab stick a few times while positioning the snake and almost disappeared into the undergrowth as well during the photo shoot! It is unbelievable how these snakes can literally vanish in front of your eyes.
Heads?
or Tails? I just love the highlighter yellow tail of D. j jamesoni
Hope you like, how could you not?
