Identifying of Lizzard

Postby siocnarf » Mon Oct 29, 2012 6:49 pm

Hi everybody

I am new to this forum and I am in Pretoria.

I have some spiders, snakes and bearded dragons.

I bought a lizard today being told it is a Fire Belly Lizzard but after looking around on the internet I am not sure. Can anybody please help me with identifying the lizard.

I think they are sometimes called Fire-belly Lizards, but the common name is Mozambique Girdeld Lizard.

I think that is what you have there.

I am not sure that this is a Flame bellied lizard. Please take a photo of the entire belly please.

If you post a nice picture showing the scales of it's back, we should be able to tell if it's a Crag Lizard or a Girdled Lizard.

They are very similar.

But Crag Lizards usually have smoother scales around the tympanic region and in this animal it looks rough.

But you might be right, SterlingAce.
