Moving to South Africa

Hi

I'm considering moving to South Africa, the thing is i cant part with my collection and would like to bring them with me. Does anyone know what the requirements are and if any paperwork is needed?

My collection consists of

3.2 boa constrictor imperator
0.1 boaedon capensis

Just fyi from the boas 1.0 male adult 0.2 female sub-adults 2.0 juveniles and the house snake is adult

Best would be to contact Cape Nature (www.capenature.co.za) and speak to somebody who can assist you with the import requirements.
But Health clearance,CITES Import and export permit will be necessary.

Im not sure how CapeNature will help.

Maybe Bushviper can give some info, you would need a permit for the house snake in JHB, which as far as I know you can only get if you have been a THA member for a while.

I am speaking with limited knowledge on the matter but as far as I know the reptiles would need to stay in quarantine for a month and could amount to 10k you would need a CiTES permit and aletter from the vet in Greece thats how I understand it

To import them is not difficult and can be done quite easily if you are emigrating to Johannesburg. The big problem is the costs. For those snakes it will cost you more than what it would cost you to find new homes for them and replace them when you get here.

If you are convinced these snakes need to come with you I can try to help you import and quarantine them here.

Apart from them being my babies, they are high end morphs as well. I was going to start a breeding project by December if the conditions were right. At the moment i'm just interested in finding out the procedures and costs for such a move, so i know what to expect and prepare them right
