PE handler who died from Puff Adder envenomation in the 80s?

Postby fuscusV2 » Wed Dec 10, 2014 12:10 pm

Does anyone recall the details of the Port Elizabeth snake handler who died after being tagged by a Puff Adder - I recall it happened in the 80s? I heard it for the first time in 1989 while I was working at Reptile World in East London. I wondered if anyone had any information on that incident or if there are perhaps links somewhere online (though I doubt it).
Thanks in advance!

When i worked at Fitzimons Snake Park in durban i recall a woman was bitten by puffadder during a demo and died within 30minutes. This was around 1984/5 if i remember correctly. I believe the fangs penetrated her arturies in the leg which killed her in half an hour. I may have some facts mixed up but that was a long long time ago.
