New Leopard Geckos... ID and Health issues...

Postby reptile » Thu Jan 01, 2015 9:18 am

Hallo Everyone!
We recently moved to Germany and so I had to get rid of my whole collection. :( So Finally I started another one here. First up I got three Leos, second hand. They all look good except the one is extremly thin. The previous owner only fed them twice a week. she put 20 grasshoppers into the cage and that was that. poor things. So I think its just underfed. Any suggestions on how to get it back on its feet again? Its still active, and eats well. (First Pic) The second Question I have is what morph would the male be? (Second Pic) Im asuming the Females are both normals.
Please help!
Regards Reptile

I would not allow that skinny gecko anywhere near the healthy ones. Dont ever buy animals in that sort of shape because they often carry parasites which then wipe out your whole collection. Buy some wax worms (they are available in Europe) and hope he picks up body mass.

Great looking geckos!
The male does not look sick and stick tail disease is out of the question (I THINK) due to fat still present in the tail.

I think malnutrition is the cause as suspected.

Feed it loads of waxmoths and superworms with calsium and D3 suplements, he should regain weight in a couple of weeks.

Good luck!!

Thanks allot! I think I named them wrong.... sory the female is the tyin one. my bad. Is it ok if I feed ok if I feed it superworms only cause I have no wax worms available. I have a constant supply of mealworms in the cage but it does'nt seem to get noticed. Tried crickets but they seem to be scared of them. striking and then quickly letting them go.
