KZN is fine, as far as I know.
But I'd have to guess about the other provinces.
Can you really not keep them in eastern cape? That sucks.

Nope snakemanjayd, no Iguana's, bearded dragons or chameleons to name but a few of the rather long list of "black listed species"

In Gauteng...

Everything can be kept except of course indigenous species and exotic frogs and tortoises.

That's as far as my knowledge goes.

Wow, that sucks.
Eastern cape is a bit weird. But I suppose, ultimately it's in the name of conserving our indigenous fauna.
Shame.

Actually, the list in the Eastern Cape has nothing to do with conservation. They compiled it by looking at what species had been issued with permits in the past and confined it to those species. There is no logic or conservation reasons behind any of the species at all. They will not add anything new to the list for any reason and do not even up date the scientific names. I know of one person who applied to have his permit updated due to a scientific name change and he was told he could not have that species here as it does not occur on the list, even though he has had it for years.

no sweat smj (",)
As far as I know you can keep most indigenous as long as it's all permitted.
There is absolutely nothing we can do because the iggies and beardies that are here are not on permit so we cant even buy it here and keep it they all have to be sold outside of the Eastern Cape. Which also explains why people keep these things illegally, because the system is so messed up!!!! And of course the guys that issue permits cant give a valid reason as to why not to permit them.
Within our EC offices there is a serious lack of communication! East London and PE are like 3 hours apart and EL falls under PE's juristiction but when i wanted to send a pair of Dumerils up there the permit guy at the permit office in EL FREAKED OUT!!!! Called me to tell me there was no way in hell he was going to allow THAT SPECIES into EL??? WTF?? Any way long story short he had to issue the permits as this lot were born and bred in EC and now EL communicates better with PE YAY!!! LOL!!

That list is not supposed to meake sense IMHO. Ive looked at it, studied it, meditated over it, but still
The best was when I wanted to get a snake from Gauteng, they said they wanted to do an assesment on the possible implications should the snake escape, besides the fact that the animal was indigenous to our region in any case, which just confused me.
