Sliders

Postby rabolongo » Wed Dec 26, 2012 10:22 am

We just bought 2 Red eared sliders and no one told us that we cant keep them in Gauteng at the time we bought them

This really sucks.

NOW WHAT ? They were going to be used in educational programs for a registered NPO.

Any way of getting permits for these guys at all ???????

If they're banned I don't think you'll get a permit for it. If its not banned, I don't see why you'd need a permit for it? :smt017

You could always try to sell it to someone in KZN.

The law is pretty specific. They are not allowed to be kept unless you have a zoo or similar institute. Your chances of getting a permit is almost zero. I would send them back to KZN which is the province that smuggled them in.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.

Are you sure it's an alligator and not a baby Nile crocodile?

Firstly I'm buying from a reliable farm, and hopefully working with them for some time helps tell them apart. Lol

Are farm prices good ?? lol
If I'm gonna be an old, lonely man, I'm gonna need a thing, you know, a hook, like that guy on the subway who eats his own face. So I figure I'll be Crazy Man with a Snake, y'know. Crazy Snake Man. And I'll get more snakes, call them my babies, kids won't walk past my place, they will run. "Run away from Crazy Snake Man, " they'll shout!”

I think the scam is to sell baby croc as a caiman ,I am sure most people could tell the difference between an alligator and a croc.I saw both at the SOS Expo and I must saw baby alligators are very cute.

Just picked her up and on our way home. Got her for a very good price. Will post photos as soon as her setup is completed.
