Far from local, but at least still from the same continent ... the Bitis parviocula. Stunning is a sure understatement.

I saw one of the first specimens in a museum in Germany and what was so sad was you could see they had beaten it with a panga.
I am in two minds about keeping a snake as rare as this. It would break my heart if it died.

Thought so two and it left a huge turd in the cage this morning evidence of a recent meal. We have found nicer looking specimens than this here but your East African puffies are much prettier thou.

Cape Town has been hot the past few days and the reptiles are loving it. This little puffy was literally 2m from my bedroom door, caught my eye through the glass as I looked up from writing my thesis. Very lucky to live out of town
