Dwarf Water Cobras (Naja Maindombensis)
I've just seen an advert for these posted by Chantel for sale.
It got the thought juices flowing and I did a quick google search, but didn't find much information.

Chantel, I know you're busy folk, but could I trouble you to please post a few images of these animals and perhaps a bit of a rundown on them for us?

I was under the impression they were Naja christy from the congo. I have not heard of or seen Maindombensis described?

True. These snakes have yet to be described, but the name N. maindombensis is currently being used to describe them until something better comes along. Adult size is about 1m, but most are around 80cm. Very similar in appearance to Christyi except for their small size. As soon as we get a chance will post some pics.

I see chrityi is in the top 10 list for subcutaneous ld 50. If they are closely related then this is not a snake to be messed with, although they appeared quite laid back.
