idea for a shift box

Hi guys, got this idea from a friend in America and just wanted to see if it would be feasible or if there were better ideas

The big pvc drain piping - the ones with a circumference a little larger than your hand. If you put a grid on one end and a grid on the other that slides over to close it, then have a handle mounted to the top of the pipe. It would be used as the hide for the snake. The purpose for the grids on either end is so that if need be, you could soak the snake in a bath tub, without worrying about the snake biting you or drowing

Any ideas better than this?

The snake will rub its nose to pieces on the grid. Avoid this at all costs!
