Egg-Static

Postby vuduman » Sat Sep 27, 2014 10:41 pm

Hi guys.Thought I would post a bit more regularly on here and show what a blessing I got given this morning :)

Here is my Jungle jaguar carpet python (Cheri) Not many of my animals has names, but this one has an incredibly gentle nature.
Here she was quite heavily gravid allready, but got massive after the prelay shed. She was mated with an Iryan Jaya carpet python.

Here is is bellytanning a few days ago.Very umcomvertable.

And this morning,I saw nothing, untill she moved her head :)

As I took her off the eggs,I nearly fell off my stepladder when I saw what she was hiding under her coils.47 eggs and 5 slugs! She is 2,6 meters,so I actually guessed around 29 eggs would be a decent clutch. So I went out for sushi after I put them all in the incubator.lol

Yay ! Babies ! :D such a pretty mommy snake too!
The kiss originated when the first male reptile licked the first female reptile, implying in a subtle, complimentary way that she was as succulent as the small reptile he had for dinner the night before.

Rian, Bud. For her to drop such a big clutch, is a clear indication, that you are definitely doing something right with your husbandry. Well done.

Wow, that's going to be a lot of snappy mouths come hatching time.
I assume this is a record of some kind as I can't find records of higher clutches on the net.

For interest sake, did you perhaps weigh her and the clutch after she laid, would be interesting to know those stats.

And well done hope all goes well.

My goodness, that is an incredible clutch and every single egg looks perfect!

I guess that is what you get when you snakes are in top condition.

Congrats and keep us posted.

Thanks guys.Primogen-Unfortunately I did not.I actaully waited up for her to drop and fell asleep. She laid them outside her nestbox and they where stuck to the cage,so I struggled a bit to get them all loose and in the incubator as soon as possible. The female is very skinny now and refused a rat today. She is very restless and coils up as if she is sitting on her eggs.Hope she feeds soon.
I posted a photo on a big Morelia group, and nobody has ever seen a clutch that size either. The eggs arn't massive.Maybe the size of a small chicken egg.I candled them earlier today and the majority looks fertile.I am overjoyed.I hope all goes smoothly with the incubation.
